Installing Oracle Database 10g on Solaris 10

In this article we will try to install oracle Database 10g on Solaris 10.

Preparations :

  1. Download Solaris installer from www.oracle.com.
  2. Download Oracle Database 10g installer www.oracle.com.

First we need to install solaris10, to do this, read the following steps:

  1. boot from solaris installation cd then select Solaris.
  2. select 4. Solaris Interactive Text (Console session).
  3. and so on
  4. and so on

To export or import oracle database:

exp username/password full=y compress=y grants=y rows=y \
file=db.dmp log=export_db.log
imp system/system fromuser=username touser=hary file=db.dmp

After that..

Database Tunning

After we install oracle, we need to do some tunning. Backup spfile:

SQL> show parameters
SQL> show parameter sga_max_size
SQL> show parameter pga_agregate_target
SQL> alter syste set sga_max_size=1024 scope=spfile;
SQL> shutdown immediate
SQL> startup
SQL> alter system set sga_target=1024 scope=both;
